Together, the ThunderCats and the friendly natives of Third Earth construct the "Cat's Lair," their new home and headquarters, but before long, the Mutants have tracked them down to Third Earth. When the ThunderCats awake from their suspended animation on Third Earth, Lion-O discovers that his suspension capsule has slowed rather than stopped his aging, and he is now a child in the body of an adult. The flagship contains the young Lord of the ThunderCats, Lion-O, as well as the ThunderCats Cheetara, Panthro, Tygra, WilyKit, WilyKat, and Snarf. The eldest of the ThunderCats, Jaga, volunteers to pilot the ship while the others sleep in capsules however, he dies of old age in the process, but not before ensuring they will reach their destination safely. The damage to the ship means the journey to their original destination is not possible, instead having to journey to "Third Earth" which will take much longer than they had anticipated. Though the Mutants damage the flagship, the power of the Eye drives them back. The sword holds the "Eye of Thundera", the source of the ThunderCats' power, which is embedded in the hilt. The fleet is attacked by the Thunderans' enemies, the Mutants of Plun-Darr, who destroy most of the starships fleet, but spare the flagship hoping to capture the legendary mystic "Sword of Omens" they believe is on board. The dying planet Thundera is meeting its end, forcing the ThunderCats to flee their homeworld. Having bested it, Lion-O then used the Sword of Omens to destroy the cloned Panthro.Ī jovial soul, he is, however, also quick to lose his temper (sometimes even with Snarf's pranks) and has a paralyzing fear of bats and a dislike of spiders. Panthro eventually managed to escape the pit and he faced his clone in battle.

While the clone went out to wreak havoc, Panthro found himself dropped into a radiation pit by Mumm-Ra. The Driller kidnapped Panthro, and Mumm-Ra used him to create a clone of Panthro, which was then brought to life by the spirit of Hammerhand and sent out to plunder and destroy Third Earth. Panthro once found himself up against the Driller, who was working for Mumm-Ra. Panthro entered a suspension capsule and made sure Snarf entered his. Panthro objected to Jaga's wish to not enter suspension with the others and pilot the ship himself, but Panthro realised that the auto pilot could not be trusted. When the Mutants attacked and boarded the ship, Panthro left with the other ThunderCats to fight them back, crushing a Mutant weapon with his bare hands and demonstrating his considerable strength. Along with the other ThunderCats, Panthro was given new clothing and weapons (specifically a set of fighting sticks known as nunchucks) by Jaga to help him adapt to life in what would be the ThunderCats new home. Panthro piloted the ship, watching as Thundera exploded before their eyes. Panthro fled his dying home-world of Thundera with the other ThunderCat Nobles aboard their flagship.
